Our Youth Dance Ambassadors give us a sneak preview of Some Like It Hip Hop…

Ahead of ZooNation’s Some Like It Hip Hop coming to The Lowry next week we sent a couple of our Youth Dance Ambassadors, Amy and Kelly down to see the show in London’s Sadler’s Wells.

They came back buzzing with the atmosphere that was created in the theatre and the fun-filled show they saw:

Here’s what Amy had to say:

‘A modern twist on the ideas in Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night and Billy Wilder’s some like it hot, two girls dress in drag to try to make it in a man’s world. Through the use of explosive and energetic dancing, director and choreographer, Kate Prince addresses the issues of sexism, homophobia and violence that are still prevalent in the hip hop world.

Showcasing various Hip hop styles including b-boying, house, popping, locking, waving, cutting, contemporary, breaking and crumping the show will no doubt leave you gasping in amazement and you’ll be up on your feet dancing in the aisles at the end.’

Kelly equally enjoyed the show:

‘Some Like It Hip Hop is a fun and upbeat show. It’s an interesting collaboration of Hip Hop, drama, Musical theatre and live singers. It has something for everyone…The songs are catchy, toe tappingly so…by the end of the show you will be up dancing and clapping along, as the dancers manage to really pull you in and make you feel part of the show. It’s a feel good show that the whole family can enjoy.’
