Cavendish Primary School pupil 10 year old Alfie Moulson, from West Didsbury, has been busy critiquing dance shows and meeting award-winning choreographers as part of The Lowry’s Youth Dance Ambassadors scheme. We asked Alfie to stop for a chat and share his dance wisdom and ambitious future career plans.

How did you get involved in the Lowry’s Youth Dance Ambassadors scheme?

I got interested in dance after taking part in STRIDE during the summer which is a dance project for boys. I’d never been interested in dance before but STRIDE gave me a lot of confidence and when I saw the ad for Youth Dance Ambassadors on The Lowry’s website I thought I’d like to give it a go and so far it’s been brilliant!

Tell us what you enjoy about being a Youth Dance Ambassador?

I get to see shows for free that I wouldn’t get to see otherwise. I have seen some amazing dance and I even got to meet one of the choreographers Barak Marshall which was exciting. I also got to go on a blogging workshop that I enjoyed. I really like writing reviews of shows and it’s cool to see my words published on the website!

What is the best show you have seen at The Lowry?

It’s between Rambert’s The Castaways and Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake as I thought they were both incredible shows with extraordinary dancing, cool costumes and exciting music. I thought these productions deserved ten stars out of five.

We know you like theatre, but what other hobbies do you have?

I like singing, dancing, acting, football, writing stories and X Box.

What would you like to be when you grow up?

An actor, singer, dancer and writer
