Something For The Weekend: Fri 22 – Sun 24 November

1. Glenn Tilbrook – Sat 23 November

“I’m not reinventing the wheel / I just like the way it makes me feel,” says Glenn Tilbrook of his recent recordings. When the wheel in question is the perfect pop song, Tilbrook is a certified patent holder.

As one half of the song-writing ampersand behind the beloved band Squeeze and now a successful solo artist, Tilbrook has perfected a signature style marked by brilliant melodic invention, cheeky humor and slice-of-life pathos, all wrapped up with unshakable hooks and his golden boy tenor. From chestnuts like Up The Junction and Pulling Mussels (From the Shell) through stunning new tracks Untouchable and Ray and Me, he has amassed a veritable catalogue of memorable songs.

2. The Saturday Playhouse – Sat 23 November

Saturday Playhouse offers a range of exciting art activities for young artists and their families. From drawing to print making to model making, there is something new to do each time. This week, inspired by Joey, the horse created for War Horse, experiment with a range of materials and make a special sculpture of your own!

3. The Comedy Network – Sun 24 November

The Lowry launches its very own monthly comedy club – a chance to see tomorrow’s stars before they’re famous.

Within the last few years the Lowry Studio has launched the careers of people like Micky Flanagan, John Bishop and Russell Howard.

Round off your weekend with a drink in the bar and join regular host Hayley Ellis as she introduces some of the brightest new stars in the comedy firmament, this month Jarlath Regan and Tommy Rowson.
