The Lowry Youth Dance Ambassadors inspire young people from Salford to get into dance

The Lowry’s Youth Dance Ambassadors are an exceptional group of young people who help The Lowry and NorthWest Dance to bring dance to young audiences and develop future dance leaders. As part of the scheme,  young people across Salford and the North West can get discounted tickets for dance performances and free training events across the year, aimed to develop skills in areas such as dance marketing or event management. The Lowry Youth Dance Ambassadors also get the opportunity to act as a real member of the press and come to first night performances at The Lowry to review the performance. To become a Lowry Youth Dance Ambassador, sign up on The Lowry website – its free and absolutely anyone can join!

Leah, a new work placement on The Youth Dance Ambassador scheme, said: ‘Already as part of my role I’ve learnt some amazing tips about blogging and I’ll be using these on my upcoming trip to Paris to see a performance of Boxe Boxe by a French company called Compagnie Käfig. The show fuses Boxing with dance through a blend martial arts, street and contemporary dance! I’m going to set up a blog about my trip and the performance to share with everyone before the company visits The Lowry in April 2014. Hopefully it will get people excited about coming to see the show!’

The Youth Dance Ambassadors want to encourage young people everywhere to get dancing wherever they are. If you fancy joining in the fun you can post pics and videos of you ‘dancing anywhere and everywhere’ using #danceanywhere
