Earlier today, Manchester Airports Group (MAG) released details of their arts sponsorship programme for 2014-15. The total figure was an impressive £340,000 – of which I am delighted to say The Lowry will receive an amount, making MAG our principle sponsor.
Since its arts sponsorship programme began, the Airport has invested more than £8 million in the arts across the region – and beyond. They support a range of schemes – from high profile organisations like ourselves, to smaller community initiatives – and to promote art forms to those who would not normally have access to them.
Our sponsorship package for 2014-15 focusses on our dance programme – which this year includes the upcoming performance of Lord of the Flies by leading dance choreographer Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures company; and the new Dance on Film exhibition in the venue’s Promenade Gallery, which celebrates the moving image and cinematic value of dance captured for the camera.
We have marked the occasion with a special #DanceAnywhere gallery on our Flickr feed – showing performers from the North West dancing across the airport site, from the check-in hall and arrivals to the Skylink and on-board Concorde at the Runway Visitor Park. The images are beautiful – you can view them here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/thelowry/sets/72157642634195455
MAG has been with us from the beginning and their commitment to supporting our mission to bring the very best of art, dance, music and drama to the region has been unwavering.
We are incredibly proud of our association with MAG and look forward to increasing our reputation as a leading platform for dance in the North of England with their support.
