Salford Commotions Dance Company took to the stage for the 6th annual Lancashire Youth Dance Festival (YD Fest), in partnership with the Dukes, Lancaster in mid-May. Young dancers aged 11-19 from dance groups across the North-West came together to perform in a professional venue and take part in dance and theatre workshops in an exciting two day event. 20 groups were selected to perform at the event by a professional panel and members of the Ludus Dance Youth Forum. The groups were said to have demonstrated an openness for exploring new dance styles, a vision for creating new choreography, and a daring to try something just a little bit different.
The Commotions performance consisted of 14 young people, 6 of whom are Salford residents from Swinton, Walkden and Worsley. The group gave an exciting 20 minute performance on the stage of the Dukes at Lancaster and all involved had a fantastic time. Beth Bracegirdle, the Company Leader said “I am really proud of what the company have achieved today and they represented Salford Dance to an extremely high standard”.
