Something For The Weekend: Fri 1 – Sun 3 August

1. In the Frame: Dance on Filmdance cropped

Dance is often seen as an art form constrained to the stage. Dance on Film presents the genre of dance via a selection of films made by visual artists, choreographers and dance companies, redefining the idea of the moving image and constructing a new stage for dance.

From New York City Ballet’s New Beginnings – a moving film for two dancers shot at dawn at World Trade Centre 4 in New York in 2013; to a documentary that charts the lives of two principal ballet dancers who have been partners in life and dance for over 50 years.

We are also very proud to present the critically acclaimed All This Can Happen by Siobhan Davies and David Hinton, a film made entirely from early archive photographs and footage from the earliest days of cinema.
