Let’s face the music and dance!

Love dance? Then it’s time to #danceanywhere with our new monthly competition!

At The Lowry we LOVE dance – whether it’s the world class dance we present on the stage, the advanced dance training we give young people or children’s first dance steps in our Under 5’s first steps class.

To encourage more people (to quote Brucey) “keeeep dancing” last year we launched our #danceanywhere competition. We asked for the public to send it their pictures of them dancing in locations you might not expect, be it on the train, in the park, on the street and to show off their dance moves whenever and wherever the mood took them.

The culmination of the competition led to 5 pictures being chosen by our galleries curator to be displayed in our Promenade Gallery as part of our Dance on Film exhibition.

We were overwhelmed with the quantity and the quality of the pictures taken as part of the competition and are keen to keep the #danceanywhere message going so are now launching a monthly competition.

Every month we’ll be running a competition where we’ll be asking our audiences, visitors and followers to send in their #danceanywhere pictures.

The prize

Each month we’ll be picking a winning picture which will:

  • Be printed into a poster which will be displayed in The Lowry for a month
  • Take-over The Lowry’s Facebook and Twitter pages for 1 week
  • Be displayed on The Lowry website for a month
  • Be included in a #danceanywhere calendar which will be sold in our shop for 2016.

The winning photographer will also win tickets to see a dance show of their choice that season.
