The #GetInvolved group was formed in September 2014 as the legacy to The Lowry’s Looked After Children’s focused project. The group aims to provide a first contact youth theatre session which is accessible to targeted young people who might have complex circumstances and have little or no experience of drama or theatre. The group spent Sept – Dec undertaking drop in workshops to learn new skills, build confidence and have fun. The group continues to grow with over 30 young people in regular attendance and a core group of 22 young performers.

This term the group are devising their own original piece of theatre, entitled A Slice of Life. In this brand new performance we will meet characters as diverse as an aspiring flamenco dancer to a downtrodden sales assistant. A mixture of monologues, a handful of vignettes and a focus on physical theatre and movements. Prepare to meet some very interesting characters who are funny, sad, mean, or just lost. Some of whom you might find in a supermarket in Salford, others who might be slightly more exotic. In their début performance #GetInvolved will share an abstract and stylised performance about life and relationships to give you an insight into the hopes, dreams and regrets of being human in this uncertain yet exciting world.
