New weekly provision for young people involved in Arts Awards at The Lowry.

This week the Learning and Engagement team launched an exciting new weekly provision for young people who are working towards an Arts Award qualification in collaboration with The Lowry.

As well as taking part in arts activities at The Lowry, young people on the Arts Award programme will have the opportunity to attend weekly support sessions. During these sessions young people will be able to work on their Arts Award portfolios, meet and work with other young people on the programme, and also have the opportunity to book appointments to meet and discuss their work with an Arts Award adviser.

As part of the programme young people will be invited to attend monthly masterclass workshops and events taking place at the Lowry. These workshops support young people working towards their qualification, providing access to different arts activities and artists, as well as providing opportunities to meet and learn from the wide variety of visiting companies and artists who visit The Lowry each year.

Arts Award is a qualification that allows young people to explore the arts and to grow their artistic and leadership talents. There are four accredited qualifications and an introductory award which are open to any young people between the ages of 6-25. The Lowry has been identified as an Arts Award Good Practice Centre, and we are currently supporting a whole host of young people working towards Bronze, Silver and Gold, including our Youth Dance Ambassadors, Young Creatives and individuals who come along to our #GetInvolved youth activity on Monday evenings.
