Flow Salford is open for applications from Salford based theatre-makers before it comes to The Lowry Studio Fri 25 – Sun 27 September.
Flow Salford is a weekend showcase of the vast, the varied and the very new theatre and performance being made in Salford today. A diverse range of strictly Salford’s newest talent will take up residency across the city’s theatrical landscape.
We are currently open for applications from Salford-based theatre-makers to be a part of the festival. Six companies or artists will recieve £300 seed-funding to create or develop work for the festival. There will also be opportunities for more artists to get involved.
Being a part of the festival will offer you;
– A platform to perform
– £300 seed-funding
– Mentoring from established Salford theatre companies Walk the Plank and Studio Salford
– Rehearsal space
– Inclusion in all festival marketing, press and PR
– Documenting/archiving opportunities to support your portfolio
– The opportunity to reach new audiences
– A festival pass giving you free tickets to festival events
– The opportunity to meet and connect with other theatre makers
Who can apply?
Flow Salford aims to promote theatre makers based in Salford who are dedicated to producing work for Salford. Applications will only be considered if the artist/company can demonstrate this and are based in Salford ie making work in Salford, live in Salford or study/graduated in Salford.
Whilst this opportunity is not limited to fully formed theatre companies, you will be expected to fully produce your idea with the personnel currently available to you. For example, we would be happy to encourage a writer and director to work together for the first time for the festival; however, these relationships must be finalised and evident in your application.

What type of work are we looking for?
We have a range of opportunities on offer from programming finished shows, scratches, extracts or even site-specific pop-ups. We are looking to programme a diverse range of work, from children’s shows to cabaret, musicals to melodramas. We are more excited by new stories told in interesting ways than by productions of well-known titles.
You must be available for the festival weekend from Friday 25th – Sunday 27th September 2015.
How long should your piece be?
Finished pieces should be no more than 60 minutes in length.
How do I apply?
If you are interested, please complete the form on the right or email firstname.lastname@example.org with some information about your work to date, a discussion of why this is the right opportunity for this point in your development and a description of the production you’d like to make. Please include links to photos or videos if possible.
The deadline for applications is Friday 10th July, 5pm .
