Next year over 300 young dancers from across the country will descend on Salford for U.Dance 2016, the National Festival for young people’s dance led by Youth Dance England. U.Dance 2016 will be held at The Lowry Fri 8 – Sun 10 July 2016 and will give young dancers the chance to perform on one of The Lowry’s stages.
U.Dance 2015 was held in Plymouth last month where Commotions Girls Youth Dance Company from The Lowry represented the North West. Alongside Ludus Youth Dance Company from Lancashire, Commotions Girls were chosen from 24 groups that performed at U.Dance NW 2015, the Regional Youth Dance Festival at The Lowry in March.
Commotions Girls and Ludus Youth took part in a fantastic four day event in Plymouth with groups from across the country. They each performed their work on the main stage at the Theatre Royal Plymouth. Commotions’ presentation, ‘Existing in Thought’ was choreographed by the dancers and their tutor Beth Bracegirdle and explored the abstract and chaotic nature of a young creative’s mind.
The groups also took part in a variety of workshops with some of the UK’s most exciting choreographers in venues such as the National Marine Aquarium!
