Andrew Lloyd Webber supporting budding theatre makers at The Lowry

Here at The Lowry we’ve been celebrating after being awarded £25,000 by The Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation to support our Artist Development Programme.

We’re delighted to announce that we will be receiving a £25,000 grant from The Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation to support the outstanding work of The Studio at The Lowry to develop new theatrical talent from Greater Manchester and beyond.

The funding will enable us to offer workshops, mentoring, rehearsal space and other activities to around 300 early career artists from Greater Manchester through the Studio Member Scheme. We will also support professional development activities for nine companies, six of whom are based in Greater Manchester, through their flagship support programmes Developed With The Lowry and the Associate Artist Scheme.

Through the ‘Developed With The Lowry’ scheme, our venue will support award-winning comedian Sophie Willan (Salford); family theatre company Colour the Clouds (Manchester); award-winning theatremakers Art with Heart (Manchester); physical theatre company Animikii (Yorkshire); and political theatre company 2Magpies Productions (East Midlands) to undertake a bespoke package of artistic and professional development as they make shows to premiere in The Aldridge Studio at The Lowry in 2016.

At the same time, our Associate Artist scheme will support Kill The Beast (Manchester), Monkeywood Theatre (Manchester), Theatre Ad Infinitum (Bristol) and FYSA Theatre (Yorkshire) to both create extraordinary new productions and undertake high impact organization development as they become nationally leading theatre companies.
