Animikii Theatre are looking for a male performer between the ages of 25-35 with strong physical capabilities to play the role of Cain in the company’s latest production, Origins. The applicant will work and rehearse closely with the company for a period of three weeks in April before performing at the Lowry theatre, Southbank Centre, rural touring venues and Physical Fest, Liverpool, in May. Rehearsals will be held in Manchester.
Animikii Theatre are looking for a strong physical performer who is confident in text and movement. The applicant will be expected to collaborate with the company within a devising framework and MUST be able to commit to 2-3 weeks of rehearsal and all tour dates throughout April & May.
Animikii Theatre is a Manchester-based physical theatre company, currently in partnership with the Lowry that was founded in 2013 by Henry McGrath and Adam Davies. Henry works with the renowned and internationally acclaimed, Song of the Goat theatre and Adam collaborates with the critically acclaimed and respected physical theatre company, Tmesis Theatre.
Origins has been a piece in development since 2014 and has received two successful R&D’s at HOME and the Lowry during 2015 culminating in three successful Scratch showings in November. Origins will have a final three week rehearsal period in April 2016 that will precede its UK premiere at The Lowry before a small tour including performances at the Southbank centre as part of ‘A Nations Theatre’.
Payment for the tour is £380 per week. Travel is paid for by Animikii. Accommodation may be included and will be discussed closer to rehearsals.
For the audition we ask all applicants to prepare a 2-3 minute dramatic speech that reflects you’re physical and emotional capabilities.
Morning: 09:00 – 13:00
During the morning session, all applicants will engage in a workshop environment. This session will be physical. Please bring clothes that are comfortable and allow you to move. We usually work barefoot, but if there are issues, please also bring comfortable footwear i.e. trainers.
Afternoon: 14:00 – 17:00
During the afternoon session, applicants will engage more closely with the material of Origins and collaborate with Animikii Theatre’s principal performer Adam Davies. As well as exploring some key physical scenes in Origins, applicants can also expect a more creative session in a devising format.
