Back in 1998 a group of ordinary women from Yorkshire came together to do something extraordinary. Fast forward to 2018 and a group of 7 radio presenters/bloggers take inspiration to raise awareness for cancer charity Bloodwise.
Gary Barlow & Tim Firth took the inspiring story about a group of women from Yorkshire and created the heartwarming musical, The Calendar Girls, which hit The Lowry’s stage in 2018. The story follows these incredible women who raised money for Bloodwise, a charity that researches blood cancers, with their infamous calendar.
To celebrate the bravery of these amazing women, and to raise awareness of Bloodwise, we invited 7 radio presenters and bloggers onto our stage to follow in the footsteps of these inspirational women, with their very own Calendar Girls Shoot.
Michelle Eagleton and Chelsea Norris from BBC Radio Manchester, Capital Radio presenter James Hall, Gaydio’s Emma Goswell, Joel Ross from Heart Radio and bloggers Jessica Stock and Kate Relton, bared all on our stage for this special photoshoot. For some of the group it was particularly poignant as they too have been affected by cancer.
Check out what our bloggers had to say about the shoot here:
Jessica Stock – Not Just A Tit
Kate Relton – The Dancing Dressmaker
One by one they took to the stage for their racy shoot, concealing their nudity with parts of the set, kettles, flowers and cakes.
