Exploring the deeper layers of reality and mind, artist Tom Dekyvere invited audiences to interact with this new commission created for the 2018 edition of Week 53 festival at The Lowry. A large and complex rope sculpture of illuminated interaction was a representation of the growing human brain. It entirely fill and re-imagined the suspended space above audience heads in The Lowry’s main foyer area. The artwork NERVOUS was digitally interactive by enabling audiences to change the light patterns through their own brain activity using brain-activity sensors suspended from the artwork. This was a stunning artwork of huge scale and ambition which opened the festival in May, and remained on exhibition to the public until September.
