The National Theatre of Scotland has been only occasional visitors to The Lowry over the years – but their productions are always extraordinary and unique.
Ten years ago we presented Black Watch – a brilliant examination of military life which we had to present in The Pie Factory at Media City because it was too big for our stage. (That space, ‘The Pie Factory’ has itself since been razed to the ground!).
The Company returned in 2016 with the James Plays – a trilogy of plays presented in a single day which told the story of the three King James of Scotland.
This week they’re premiering a new series of short films which have been inspired by the Coronavirus crisis called Scenes For Survival.
These are completely new and original works – very different in style – which have been specially commissioned from some of the leading creative thinkers in Scotland today – including Ian Rankin, Brian Coz and comedian Janey Godley.
