The latest offering from the BBC/ACE #CultureInQuarantine features circus company Mimbre.
Their short film The Sofa Dance brilliantly captures the frustration of circus artists who were unable to train or perform during Lockdown – sadly the closure of theatres and the cancellation of the Summer Festival season has left many circus artists unable to perform with disastrous financial consequences for many of them.
Mimbre are a brilliant women-led UK company who will be premiering their new show in the Quays during 2021.
The film also includes Charmaine Childs – a former performer with the Company – who should have been visiting The Lowry as part of WEEK 53.
This film is a joyous celebration of the diversity of contemporary circus – and its such a simple idea it would be great to see anyone else wants to invent their own sofa dance…?
